Devlog - June 2025

Hi there, guys! Today I'm here to share some exciting news!
As I'm getting closer to finish the menu of the game, I can finally start working on a playable demo! I plan on releasing said demo until the end of July alongside a crowdfunding campaign to speed up the game production! The basis for the game is almost done as it is, so after finishing this, there will be little system-programming left to do and I can focus 80% on the story-programming!
Take a look at some screenshots!
Also, I'd like to share how build-making will work in the game. For those who played Exodus Checkmate, it's pretty similar with the Exodus Crystal system.
Every character can equip a "Core Chip" that determines their basic attack power, affinities and a set of skills available. These chips are the basis for your build and while every character starts with a basic Core Chip, you'll find several others along the journey. However, they're not all you have...
Inspired by the quartz system from the Kiseki series, every character also have 4 slots to equip Add-On Chips to further increase their stats and skill pool! Every Add-On Chip also unlocks a new skill for the character, giving you complete freedom to build them as you like!
And talking about skills...
All characters have 8 slots for their available skills. Some, like Melissa's Virtuous Shield and Body Slam, are naturally learned, while others are only available if you have the necessary Core or Add-On chip equipped. As you may have noticed, skill costs are quite expensive in D-Series; Melissa can't even use Virtuous Shield at level 1. This is due to the CE Regen system present in battles.
Every turn, the entire party restores 10% of their CE, which helps in long, draining fights. However, this doesn't fully mitigate the high skill costs. That's where the Action Points System comes into play! When hitting a weakness, the character gains the "Advantage" status. This not only negates the increase of AP cost for that character but also cuts their CE consumption by half! So, an Aqua skill, for example, would cost just 5 CE instead of 10.
Our focus in creating this system is to not only give players freedom in their build-making decisions but also to challenge them in how to deal with the various obstacles we'll place throughout the game. Hope you have enjoyed this devlog and I see you next time!
